Yoga

The word Yoga is derived from the ancient Sanskrit word YUJ which means to yoke, harness. Yoga get its recognition from the oldest formal documentation of yoga comes from around 200 B.C. (Patanjali's Yoga Sutra) but there are many other references too that point way back to the Vedic times (2000-3000 B.C.) which states that the yoga path was initiated. In any case, yoga has been around in one form or another for a very long time in past. Yoga commonly consists of contorting yourself into a human pretzel and sitting on the pointy bit of some distant mountain. Thus, Yoga calls our attention back to this and aims to reunite us with the innermost centre of our being.

Yoga, now a days, is a philosophy that offers instruction and insight into every aspect of life: the spiritual, the mental and the physical. Yoga will get more and more success as the life becomes more and more materialistic. Yoga as a physical therapy alone is also satisfying people. In practical life, yoga is an applied science of the mind and body. In other words, Yoga teaches that a healthy person is a harmoniously integrated unit of body, mind and spirit. Yoga commonly consists of controlling ourselves into a human pretzel and sitting on the pointy bit of some distant mountain.

There are six stages basically which is basically the different practices to be applied in our life. The Yamas tell us what should not be done in terms of the external world. The Niyamas tell us what we should do in terms of our inner world. The Asanas align and integrate our body and mind while releasing vital energies and preparing us for the physical and mental challenges of the remaining limbs. Pranayama brings particular emphasis onto the breath to lift our awareness of the universal life-force that sustains and energizes us.The last four limbs are the methodical steps towards enlightened meditation. Pratyahara relieves us from the constant bombardment of stimuli by blocking our senses and turning our minds inward. Dharana holds the mind on a single point to the exclusion of all other existence. Dhyana is the connection and communication between the subject and object where you, the subject, are no longer separated from the object of your meditation. Finally, if such a word is relevant anymore, we arrive at Samadhi, an indistinguishable part of the universal consciousness. These practices and stages are very important in for mental peace and systematic life. Mental peace is the only thing which this modern world is not able to provide to People. Yoga, is the way towards having Mental peace and systematic and Healthy lifestyle.
