Mathura
The Mathura city is located western part of State of Uttarpradesh, 141 km south-east of Delhi and 50 km far in the north-west of Agra. The whole area is known as Brij Bhoomi, the birth place of Lord Krishna, the term Brij is always associated to Lord Krishna. Mathura is dedicated wholly to Lord Krishna.
The picturesque Long Ghats of river Yamuna, always makes you remember about the incidences of Krishna and the beautiful descriptions made by several poets. Places to visit here are the Temples here are Shree Krishna Janmbhoomi which is the birth place of Lord Krishna, is the holy place for all Hindus. Here a stone slab marks the spot of Lord Krishna's birth. Also, it is said that Kesav Deo temple has the room where Lord Krishna took birth. Another important place is Ranghbhumi where Lord Krishna killed Kansa in a fight and set his parents free. There is also a Vishram Ghat where people take bath. It is the place where Lord Krishna took rest after killing Kansa. Radharaman Temple, Jugal Kishre Temple and Kesi Ghat. Lots of stories are here and all are related to Lord Krishna. The Radharaman Temple is built in the year 1542 after the Diety self-manifested from a Saligram Shila. Here you can also found a Chouki (wooden plateform for sitting) and Chadar ( Shawl) which is given as a Gift by Lord Chaitanya. Here a crown next to the idol represents Radharaniji as no idol is there of her. The next is Jugal Kishore Temple which is one of the oldest temple of Vrindavana completed its construction in the year 1627. It is also known as Kesi Ghat Temple as it is next to Kesi Ghat. The place Kesi Ghat is the one where he Killed the Kesi demon. This is a famous bathing place where pilgrims takes dip to join Arti of Yamuna River. Along with all these historic place there are Rangji Temple and Dwarkadhish Temple which are well known for their artistic work. Above all Holi festival of Barsana (50 kms) is unique where women attack men from Nandgaon with wooden sticks, who tries to put colour on these women. Enjoy the colourful Mathura along with holy places and colourful culture.
