Jain pilgrimage :
Jain Pilgrimage in India : Jainism is based upon eternal, universal truths. It states on the spirtual independence and equality of all life with major emphasis on non-violence.It also has strong belief on Self-control commonly known as Vrata through which Jain followers attain moksha. The Jain Sangha or order constitutes of four components namely monks (Sadhu), Nuns (sadhvi), Lay Men(Shravak) and lay women (shravika). There is basically two Divisions among Jains namely Digambaras and Shvetambaras. The Digambara Monks dont wear clothes as they believe that clothes are like possessions and increase material desire. Shvetambar monks wear white clothes as they believe that there is nothing in Jain religion which stops wearing clothes. The Nuns (Sadhvi) of both the division wears clothes of white colour. Apart from this, there is also a difference that Digambara believes that women do not attains moksha whereas shvetambara section believes that women attains moksha. The excavations contributed in developing the history ofJainism. Both the sections are following their path peacefully without major difference. Jain pilgrimage centers throughout India are noted for their cleanliness and sacred atmosphere. The worshiper enters in a state of peaceful mind and spirit prepared after taking bath,and clean clothes. No noisy atmosphere is there in the Jain Temples. The pilgrimage places in India which are of special importance to Jains because of associations with holy persons of the past. Once, it was having thousands of intellectuals which includes students and teachers. Streams like Logic, Grammar, Astronomy and Ayurvedic were taught here in past. We also get references regarding this university in the written work of Chinese pilgrims Xuanszang and Yijing.This university attracts the scholars from all over the world. Nearby attractions includes Hieun Tsang Memorial Hall, Surya Mandir and the Museum.

Shikharji is also known as Parshwanathji situated in Giridh district in the State of Jharkhand. It is considered one of the principle holy place of Jain followers. The Parshwanath Hill is about 4481 feet high, and is very important because Mahavir and otherTwentyTirthankarattainedNirvana here. |
Rikhabdev or Kesariyaji Pilgrimage :
This beautiful holy Jain Temple is situated 40km from Udaipur in the State of Rajasthan. This Temple belongs to Lord Rikhabdev, the first jain Tirthankara. Rikhabdevji is well known for its Adinath or Rikhabdev Temple. The Temple is also known as Kesariyaji as the Kesariya or Saffron which is put on the forehead of the idol of the Lord Rikhabdevji. The tribals known as Bhils at this place also worship the idol and they call it as Kalaji because of the colour of idol. Its antiquity can be easily traced by the details found that it was repaired in the 14th and 15th centuries. Nearby is Pagliyaji which is just 2km from this Rikhabdevji Temple where the footprints of Lord Rikhabdev are placed and worshipped. A Big fair is held every year in Chaitra (month as per Hindu Calander) Mar/April on the day of birth of Lord Rikhabdevji. Lord Rikhabdevji is also believed by Vaishnavas as the Eighty Avtar of Lord Vishnu.

| Sri Mahavirji Temple :
This temple is totally made up of White marble situated on the banks of river Gambhir which is 110 kms away from Sawai Madhopur. This is also the twon of Sri Mahavirji who is 24th Saint. This Temple is one of the most popular pilgrimage centre. The faith also generates by the story which states that centuries ago there was a cow which left home in the home and returned back in the evening. But the owner got surprised by the fact that the cow returns back home with empty uddurs. To know the reality, owner's son followed the cow and found that the cow stops at a particular spot and emptied itself all its milk on that spot. After digging at that spot, people discovered the Statue of Shri Mahavirji.
To solve this mystery, the cow's owners son followed it one day and discovered that the animal
stopped at a particular stop and emptied itself of all the milk it had.
Intrigued, the cowherd began to dig at this spot and discovered a statue of Shri Mahavirji.
The temple is the mixture of ancient and modern Jain Architecture. The court has smaller temples along
with the Main temple with various Jain Saints Idols which are carved lively by the Artists.
